Charles Harold “Chuck” Beans, 85, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in his sleep September 9, 2017 in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia.
Born in York Township on August 19, 1932, he was the son of the late William McKinley and Helen Elizabeth (Spring) Beans.
He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1952 and joined the United States Army where he served two years in Fort Hood, Texas as a mechanic during the Korean War.
His professional career spanned more than 30 years with Beaber’s IGA, German Village IGA and ultimately Baltic IGA as a meat cutter, prior to his retirement.
Chuck enjoyed bowling and playing horse shoes where he participated in many leagues over the years. He also loved watching NASCAR, spending time with his family, and being in the outdoors.
Chuck will be deeply missed by his children, Bill Beans and Steve (Lori) Beans, both of New Philadelphia, and Lori Beans and Danny Heter of Dennison in addition to his former wife, Margaret R. Beans. His grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Heter and Ashley and Kaeley Beans; his sister, Barbara Kohler of New Philadelphia; and his niece and nephew, Doris Grezlik and Russell “Chuck” Kohler complete his family.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 11 am with a meal immediately following in the Geib Family Center.
Chuck’s family is very grateful for the exceptional care he received at Amberwood Manor.
