Charles F. “Chuck” Glauser, 80, Gnadenhutten, died Friday evening, November 12, 2004, at Union Hospital in Dover, with his family by his side.A son of Godfrey and Martha Schwab Glauser, he was born in Gnadenhutten on August 2, 1924, on the family farm where he would later raise his own family..Charles was a l943 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps during World War II and served his country in the Pacific Theater, receiving an honorable discharge in l946.Charles devoted his life to his family and to farming. He delighted in his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren. He loved the land, loved his animals, and was a respected neighbor and friend. He was a member of the American Legion Post #139 in New Philadelphia; the Farm Bureau, and the John Heckewelder Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten.He is survived by his wife, the former Thelma Dyer, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; two daughters, Martha (Philip) Roudebush of New Philadelphia and Myra (Paul) Grace of Dennison; five grandchildren, Marcie (Rocky) Dryden of Uhrichsville, Julie (James) Knepper of East Liverpool, and Stacie Roudebush of New Philadelphia and her finance, Zach Gardner, Lisa (Gus) Dale of New Philadelphia, and Michael Grace of Aurora; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Knepper, Mackenzie Dale, and Nathan Dryden; two sisters, Gladys Burrier of New Philadelphia and Dorothy Lockett of Tippecanoe; and one brother, Walter (Linda) Glauser of Gnadenhutten.He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Oliver Dean Glauser.Visitation will be Monday evening, November 15, 2004 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, and on Tuesday, November 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the John Heckewelder Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Monte Canfield at the Moravian Church on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the Tuscarwas VFW.
