Charles F. Raiser

Charles F. “Chic” Raiser, 80, of New Philadelphia, was peacefully taken home by Our Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2007.Charles was born April 22, 1927 to John and Mary Raiser at Columbus, Ohio. He was a graduate of St. Charles Borromeo College Seminary at Columbus, Ohio and in September of 1950, he married the love of his life, the former, Marie Therese Barrow.He retired in 1986 as the assistant manager of the Social Security Administration office at New Philadelphia. After his retirement, Charles worked for Dusini Drug for over 15 years where he delivered prescription medications.Charles was an active individual. Over the years he served as past president for the Knights of Columbus, past president of the New Philadelphia Lions Club and a board member of T-4-C where he was instrumental in the building of the Horizon Home for the Developmentally Disabled. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia where he taught RCIA and served as a lector.He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marie Therese Raiser; his children, Rita Carter of New Philadelphia, Mary Ann (Dean) Wilson of Boardman, Ohio, Thomas (Nada) Raiser of Liberty Corner, New Jersey, Angela (Christopher) McNeill of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Susan (Eric) Ragusa of Duncansville, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and many dear friends.Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Raiser and one brother, Rev. Jerome K. Raiser.Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian wake service being held at 1:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia with Monsignor George Schlegel and Father Edward Keck officiating.
