Charles David Williams

November 27, 1934 — November 29, 2013

Charles David “Charlie” Williams, 79, of New Philadelphia passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 following a short illness.

Born November 27, 1934 in Rose Township, he was the son of the late Oscar and Mary Grace (King) Williams.

After graduating from Magnolia High School, Charlie served in the United States Army. Upon completion of his service, he returned home and married his lifelong companion and friend, the former Delores Ann Page on June 7, 1959.

Together, they enjoyed a lifetime filled with much love, laughter, and family. Many beautiful memories were created while camping, bowling, and traveling. Charlie also loved to hunt, boat, read, and sing.
Charlie worked for the former Joy Manufacturing for 30 years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Schoenbrunn Valley Barbershop Chorus and their Very Large Quartet (VLQ), which he dearly loved participating in. Charlie was also an avid history buff.

He will long be remembered as a genuine man, who loved his family and friends, always making others laugh and smile.

He leaves behind his wife, Delores; his children, Joan (Jim) Fishel of Dover, Chuck (Denise) Williams of Mineral City, and Mark Williams of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Cady and Mitchell Williams of Strasburg, and Maddison and Paige Ricketts of Mineral City; his great-grandson, Brody Merrick; his brothers, Raymond “Pete” (Carla) Williams of Zanesville and Martin (Terri) Williams of Dellroy; and his “other red-head daughter”, his dog Cammie; along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry and Marjorie Williams.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. A service celebrating his life will begin at 2:30 p.m. with burial following in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Friends are invited to the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 North Wooster Avenue, Dover, where a meal will be shared following the committal service.

Memorial contributions in Charlie’s memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad St., Canfield, O. 44406 or the charity of the donor’s choice.

“Some glad morning, when my life is over, I’ll fly away. To a home of God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away. I’ll fly away, oh glory, I’ll fly away. When I die hallelujah by and by, I’ll fly away.”
