Charles H. “Chuck” Clough, 82, of Bolivar passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday morning, February 24, 2016, in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar.
Born in Newcomerstown on October 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Fred T. and Mary I. (Harper) Clough. After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1951, he continued his formal education at both the Technical Institute of Akron and the American Institute, receiving associate degrees from both in engineering fields.
Chuck honorably served his country in the United States Air Force prior to beginning his professional career which spanned a number of years, retiring in 1995 from the former Warner & Swasey Co.
On July 10, 1953, Chuck married his lifelong companion and friend, the former Viola J. Foster. Together, Vi and Chuck grew in their faith as members of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia where Chuck served in a variety of roles.
He also enjoyed woodworking and traveling; having had the opportunity to visit 48 states and several countries. Chuck was blessed with the gift of music and enjoyed sharing his piano and guitar talents with the Gospel Strings group.
Chuck will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Viola; his daughters, Vickie (John) Chamberlain, Cathy (Tim) Long, Bonnie (Jack) Kammer, and Sandy Finlayson; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Fred (Colleen) Clough and Gerry Ann Casteel, and Joy Lou Marlatt.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his grandson; 2 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Jane Grewell.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday in the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a luncheon in the Geib Family Center. Burial will follow in Coshocton Memory Garden.
