Charles “Austin” Beans

Charles “Austin” Beans, 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his residence following an apparent heart attack.

Born in New Philadelphia on May 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Mary E. (Albaugh) Beans.

After graduating from Kenmore High School in Akron, Austin honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954. His professional career spanned more than 40 years as a mechanic with Gradall.

Beginning in 1992, Austin began wintering in Lake Wales, Florida, with his late wife, Mary Rose. Many wonderful friendships were made at the campsite. He also enjoyed spending many hours in his garage repairing anything and everything that needed fixed.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Tim (Diane Conley) Beans of Akron, Peggy (Robert) Clark of Cuyahoga Falls; his grandchildren, Rob (Kim) Clark of Hinkley, Brent (girlfriend, Nikki Waters) Clark of Cuyahoga Falls, and Tawney Beans of Tallmadge; daughter-in-law, Carole Beans of Tallmadge; sister-in-law, Sandy Beans of Dennison; step-children, Connie (Lyndell) Starcher of Westerville, Mike (Becky) Kostelnik of North Canton, Brian Kostelnik of Newcomerstown, Darell (Lori) Douglass of Dover; his daughter-in-law, Becky Holmes Kostelnik; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; son, David Beans; his step-son, Larry Kostelnik; and his brothers, William and Donald.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, 116 Second Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday beginning at 10:30 am with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
