Charles A. Komaromy

Charles A. “Chuck” Komaromy, 63, of Dover passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, October 4, 2013.

Born March 1, 1950 in Union Hospital at Dover, he was the son of the late Arthur and Norma Jean (Gross) Komaromy.

After graduating from Dover High School, Chuck was drafted into the US Army and after returning home, joined the National Guard. His 40 year military career included multiple tours and he ultimately retired from the Ohio National Guard 1485th Transportation Company as a Truck Master with the rank of SFC.

His professional career spanned numerous years as an employee at Amko. Chuck had a great passion for fishing, hunting, shooting competitively, and cooking. He also spent many summers in Restoule, Canada and enjoyed racing motorcycles with Team Pean. He was also an avid sports enthusiast cheering on both local and state sporting teams.

Chuck will be deeply missed by his wife, Suzanne M. (Schlegel) Komaromy; his children, John (Laura) Komaromy and their son, Connor, Carrie Komaromy, AJ (Heidi Brannam) Komaromy, Krista (Ryan Maxwell) Komaromy; his sister, Betty (Bobby) Garneau; his brother, Tom (Pam) Komaromy; his father-in-law, John Schlegel; his sister-in-law, Deb (Vern) Troyer; his brother-in-law, John (Tracy) Schlegel; his aunt, Hazel Yockey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William; and his mother-in-law, Donna Schlegel.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 North Wooster Ave., Dover, on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held in the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia on Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the service, military honors will be rendered. Then, the church family will host a luncheon in the church’s Family Life Center.

Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

Memorial contributions in Chuck’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
