Chad Matthew Hughes, 24, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at his home.A son of Eddie Joe Hughes of Canton and Brenda (Jones) Hughes of New Philadelphia, Chad was born December 13, 1985.Chad was a 2004 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for growing large pumpkins, a hobby he took part in with his dear friend Arnie Dunn. Chad entered many of his exhibits at the Tuscarawas County Fair. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing.Chad loved helping others and could often be found mowing his neighbors lawns or shoveling their sidewalks. He dearly loved his dog, May May and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Chad will be remembered as a very special young man who was loved by his family and friends for who he was.He is survived by his parents; his step father, Tim Keith; his siblings, Kara and Justin Hughes both of New Philadelphia, Starr Smith of New Philadelphia and Katie, Emily and Christopher Hughes all of Canton and a grandmother, Patricia Carpenter of Dennison.Completing the family are his aunts, Jan (Jim) Beitzel of Stone Creek, Shari (Jon) Harmon of New Philadelphia, MaryJane (Greg) Mendoza of New Philadelphia, Rose Best of Stillwater and Darlene (Ed) Bridgeman of Uhrichsville; his uncles, Tim (Flo) Jones of Dover, Tom (Miriam) Jones of Sugarcreek and Nate Hughes of New Philadelphia, numerous cousins and dear friends, Bob (Janie) Klopfer, Bill Klopfer and Bob Alsept.Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Jones, Claire Hughes, Robert Hughes and Julia Alexander and a special friend, Q.T. Smith.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Chad’s life will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Florence McNutt officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. A memorial reception will follow in the Geib Family at New Philadelphia.
