Chad Lee Dixon, a fun-loving and fearless friend, age 24, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and formerly of Dover, was called home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2012 following a motorcycle accident.
Chad was given to his parents by God on April 14, 1987 in New Philadelphia. He was the youngest son of Larry “Doc” and Lynn Davis Dixon.
Chad’s love for speed and living life on the edge was evident from the time he was a child. He and his father had racing in their blood beginning with big wheel races, moving into go cart, moped, and car racing; and ultimately loving 4-wheel and motorcycle riding and racing.
During high school, Chad began working with Malcuit Racing Engines where he continued his employment until August of 2011, when he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his brother and sister-in-law, Jamie and Angela, to begin his advanced education at Keiser University, where the academic dress code included wearing a tie, dress pants, and a dress shirt. He was actively pursuing a career as an x-ray technician, with plans of attending medical school and becoming a radiologist. While he was receiving his education, Chad also was working at Cycle Gear.
Chad’s other love in his life was his friends and family. He was a very dependable, easy-going friend, who was always available to help someone in a time of need. His young nieces and nephew were especially important to him.
Prior to moving to Florida, Chad had been attending worship and classes at NewPointe Church in Dover with his girlfriend, Leslie.
Chad will be deeply missed by his family including his parents, Larry “Doc” and Lynn Dixon of Concord, NC; his brother, Jamie (Angela) Dixon of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his sister, Charity Francis of Pataskala, OH; his brother-in-law, Jason Francis of Charlotte, NC; his nephew and nieces, Ethan Francis and Rylee Francis and Gianna Dixon; his paternal grandmother, Mary Dixon Flanagan of Carrollton; his maternal grandmother, Myrtle Johnson Davis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his girlfriend, Leslie Pauline of New Philadelphia; his aunts and uncles, Mervin (Jean Darr) Dixon of Coshocton, Tamie (Rod) Howard of Powhatan Point, OH, Clark (Bruno Casale) Davis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tina (Bobbi Ward) Davis of Dover; a special cousin, Kenneth Howard, numerous cousins and friends; his close friends and their families, Malcuits and employees, Millers, LoPrestis, Rufeners, Hays, Carlisles, Aldergates, Kreptowskis, Bryans, Gintzs, Balls, Beckleys, Gwyers, Wests, and Foxs; and Cycle Gear employees; and his riding buddies in Ohio and Florida.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Mervin Dixon, Sr. and Clark Davis, Sr.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 5 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Chad’s life will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center on Monday with visitation one hour prior to the service. Dear friend and spiritual leader, Pastor Luanne Youngman will officiate Chad’s service.
Following the service, cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
