Chad Jason Hofmann

Chad Jason Hofmann, 33, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio following a sudden illness.A son of Paul Daniel and Lynn Ellen (Burton) Hofmann of Salem, Ohio, Chad was born February 14, 1978 at Salem, Ohio.Chad graduated from Salem High School in 1996. He then attended Baldwin-Wallace College at Berea, Ohio where he was member of the football team. He later attended Kent State University Salem Campus before eventually moving to New Philadelphia, Ohio to attend Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus.He was known by many as the friendly bartender, currently working at Hog Heaven and the Army-Navy Garrison both at New Philadelphia, Ohio. Chad met many other friends and acquaintances while tending bar at various other area establishments as well.An avid sports fan, Chad was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns as well as the Indians and Cavaliers. Chad could also be found rooting on the Florida Gators. His heart was always in Cleveland however and loved everything about the city.Chad will be remembered by his family and friends for his creative and artistic abilities. He loved to draw and had a gift for turning junk into treasure. He also loved to entertain his family and friends.In addition to his parents, Chad will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Silver Ann Gold of New Philadelphia, Ohio. He also leaves behind his brother, Craig (fiancé, Kathy West) Hofmann of Columbus, Mississippi; his grandmothers, Dorothy Hofmann of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Ruth Burton of Salem, Ohio; two uncles, Terry (Terri) Hofmann of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Terry (Margaret) Burton of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; his Godparents and their daughter, Mike and Judy Palm and Michelle Palm of Lisbon, Ohio; his best friend, Andrew Douglas Dever of Cleveland, Ohio and many other dear friends.Chad was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lester Hofmann and Papa Burton.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, Ohio. A funeral service celebrating Chad’s life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Tim Hatfield officiating. Cremation will take place following the services and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Salem, Ohio. The family requests that Cleveland Browns attire or colors be worn to the visitation and services.Contributions may be made to the Chad J.
