Cathie I. (Moreland) Hiltbrand, age 63, of Dover, died Friday morning, March 30, 2012 in her home following a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer.
A daughter of the late Kenneth LeRoy and Joanne A. (Miller) Moreland, Cathie was born on March 16, 1949 at Dennison, Ohio.
Cathie was a 1969 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and earned a degree in nursing from Kent State University. For a number of years following, she pursued her nursing career as she was employed by Mercy Medical Center at Canton and the Arbors at Akron.
She attended New Pointe Community Church at Dover and was a member of the ALS Ohio Family Support Group.
Cathie owned and lived in the in the former home of Christian Deardorff, the founder of Dover, Ohio. The restored home as has been featured on television on 13 different occasions and has won many awards over the years.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Spears of Kent, Josieanna (Ryan) Norris of Canton, Jennifer (Greg) Bonvechio of Massillon, Jacob (fiancé, Kelli Wagner) of Dover and Jacqueline (Mark) Parson of Strasburg; two brothers, David (Jean) Moreland and Mark (Maryann) Moreland both of New Philadelphia and 10 grandchildren, Alicia, Justine, Tisha, Courtney, Morgan, Megan, John, Grace, Alexandria, and Malachi.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Chad Stutzman will lead a celebration of Cathie’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday April 2, 2012 at 10:30 AM. A private entombment in Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover will follow.
