Catherine V. Blankenship, 78, of Dover, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Community Hospice, Truman House, at New Philadelphia, following an extended illness.
Born in Nelson County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Nolan and Blanche (Tate) Blankenship and had retired from the former Valley Manor Nursing Home, now Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia, where she had worked as a STNA.
Catherine was Southern Baptist by faith and always the life of the party. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Catherine was a bird lover and because of her illness and being confined, she often spent her time just watching and feeding and the birds.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth (Jeff) McDonald of Port Washington; two sons, Leon Blankenship of Hobe Sound, Florida and Leo Blankenship of Tuscarawas; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Blankenship Cuenot and her husband Tom, Chantel Blankenship, Christopher McDonald, Alisha Povick, Teia Lukens, Brandi Armstrong Smith and Ryan Blankenship and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Leo Blankenship, Sr. and also by a brother and four sisters.
In keeping with her wishes, Catherine is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a graveside service will be held at a future date.
