Catherine Mae Fixel, 85, of Newcomerstown, formerly of Garfield Heights, O. died Friday, October 14, 2005, at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover.A daughter of the late Harry and Catherine Creagor Mell, Catherine was born March 15, 1920, in Baltimore, MD. She married her late husband Steve A. Fixel on September 9, 1936 in Ellicott City MD.She had worked as a cook at the Jennings Nursing Home in Garfield Heights, OH for 10 years, but her true profession was as a homemaker and mother.She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rudy (Catherine) Stripp, of Miami, FL; sons, Steve (Marianne) Fixel, of Newcomerstown, Andrew (Roseann) Fixel, of Parma, OH, and John (Sandy) Fixel, of Carrollton, OH; sisters, Mrs. Millard (Rosella) Leary, and Dorothy Pugh, both of Baltimore, MD; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous foster grandchildren.In addition to her husband who died in 1973, Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary “Zaz” Luckay; a son, George Fixel; and brothers, George and Harry Mell Jr. Visitation will be Sunday October 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, and Monday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the Rybicki & Son Funeral Home in Garfield Heights where services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.Linn-Hert-Geib (330) 343-5506www.geibfuneral.com
