Catherine Gleason

Catherine Marie Gleason, 64, of Gnadenhutten, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.

Born in Harrison County near Tappan Lake, on November 5, 1953, Cathy was a daughter of the late Frank Thomas and Anna Josephine (Wszeborowski) Verhovec.

Cathy deeply loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone in need as she herself was able to help. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, playing games on the computer, caring for her beloved Pomeranian, Abby and making trips to Wheeling Island.

She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Gerald Lee Gleason, Sr. whom she married on November 29, 1971; her children, Dawna (Jim) Jones of Uhrichsville, Gerald Lee Gleason, Jr. of Tuscarawas, and Angela (Goran) Zarkovic of Freeport; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Completing the family are her siblings, Rose Kourim of Rayland, Ohio, Joanne White of Gnadenhutten, Frank (Sharon) Verhovec, Jr., Joseph (Phyllis) Verhovec, and Edward (Dorothy) Verhovec all of New Philadelphia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by a brother, Valentine Verhovec and a sister, Julia Callentine.

In keeping with Cathy’s wishes, private services will be held with cremation care being handled by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
