Catherine Elizabeth Rausch

Catherine Elizabeth Rausch, 94 of Walnut Creek and formerly of Sugarcreek and Stone Creek, died Friday, April 2, 2010 in Walnut Hills Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.A daughter of the late George and Ida (Lorenz) Sherretts, Catherine was born December 4, 1915 near Bakersville, Ohio.Catherine graduated from Stone Creek High School in 1938 and was a longtime member of the former Grace United Church of Christ, currently known as Grace Community Church, at Stone Creek. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Friendship Circle at the church.Over the years, Catherine was employed in both the housekeeping and laundry departments at Union Hospital.She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and at one time was a state office holder for the Ladies Auxiliary. Catherine enjoyed quilting with her friends at her church and at the Sugarcreek Senior Center and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and David Miller of Sugarcreek; her grandchildren, David (Nicole) Miller II of Sugarcreek and Robert Evans, Michael Rausch, Patty Rausch and Adrian Rausch Jr. all of Baltimore, Maryland and her great grandchildren, Mason and Marshall Miller and Chris, Garrett, Cory, Jonathan and Keith Evans and Logan Rausch.Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis Rausch who passed away on June 6, 1979; a son, Adrian Rausch and two sisters, Bernice Rinehart and Evelyn Burrier.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Catherine’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Tom Groover officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Grace Community Church, P.O.
