Catherine Elizabeth Duper, 82, of Hennis Care Center, formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Tuesday evening in Union Hospital. Born in Wainwright, January 14, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Montague Robinson. Mrs. Duper had owned and operated the former Chuck’s Chicken Carryout on East High Avenue. She also worked as the head housekeeper of New Philadelphia’s Holiday Inn. Early in life, she learned to play both the guitar and the accordion. Together with some girlfriends, she formed a small band that played throughout the Wainwright area in the 1930’s. A longtime member of Roxford United Methodist Church, she enjoyed reading and embroidery work. Survivors include three daughters, Gloria (James) Lewis of New Philadelphia, Karen (Peter) Wright of Medford, Long Island, NY, Vicki (Michael) Armstrong of Dover; a son, Roy Duper Jr. of New Philadelphia; granddaughters Kimberly Murray & companion Darryl Franklin of New Philadelphia, Diane Wright of New York, NY, and Sara Armstrong of Dover; grandsons Peter (Megan) Wright of Medford NY, William (Seija) Brown and Carl Armstrong, both of New Philadelphia; six great-grandchildren, a sister Janet Crouse of Gnadenhutten, O, and a brother Robert (Ann) Robinson of Dennison, O. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Finnicum and Mary Gilmore and brothers Charles, Thomas, Richard, Alfred, and Elmer Robinson.Friends may call Friday March 14, 2003 from 11AM to 1 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. Pastor Henry E. Mooney will officiate a funeral service Friday at 1 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
