Carter Thomas Ames

Carter Thomas Ames, a loving father, uncle, son, brother, and friend passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 in New Philadelphia.

Born in Tarrytown, New York, he was the son of Daniel G. and Phyllis (Davis) Ames of New Philadelphia.
After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1983, he began his profession, passion, and hobby as an automotive expert. Carter received his associate degree in automotive engineering from Stark State College. His lifetime was spent working on eBay, going to swap meets and auctions.

Most importantly, Carter was a loving and devoted father to his 11-year-old son, Kody. He created many memorable moments for Kody whether it was swimming, going to movies, or hanging out with him in the garage. His legacy will live on in his son.

Carter will be deeply missed by his parents, Daniel and Phyllis; his son, Kody; his brother and “hero”, Tim (Robin) Ames of New Philadelphia; his nieces, Jennifer, Lindsey, and Caitlin Ames, all of New Philadelphia; his special friend, Pamela Gibson of New Philadelphia; his uncle, Geoffery (Diane) Ames of New Hampshire; his aunt, Stephanie Manly of Virginia; Kody’s mother and former wife, Joyce Ames of New Philadelphia; his “Aunt Betty and Uncle Jack Seibel” of Defiance; his Circle K coffee friends; and numerous cousins and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Carter’s life will immediately follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

Memorial contributions in Carter’s memory may be directed to the Kody Ames Memorial Fund, C/O Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union, 119 Filmore Avenue, Dover Ohio 44622.
