Carolyn S. Lilie, age 93, passed away early Friday morning, November 6, 2009, in her Dover home. Born at Charleston, West Virginia, March 19, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Carolyn L. Pollock Fry. At the age of three, her family relocated to Cincinnati where Carolyn graduated from Withrow University High School with the class of 1934. In 1940, she married William H. Lilie. The couple met while working together at a pharmacy, she as a clerk, and he as a pharmacist. They would go on to operate three pharmacies in the Cincinnati area before spending their retirement years in Naples, Florida. She’ll be remembered for her beautiful voice, having sung in the church choir at Westwood First Presbyterian Church, and in the summer opera held on the grounds of the Cincinnati Zoo. Carolyn was previously a member of The College Hill Presbyterian Church.Carolyn leaves behind her family that includes a son; Robert (wife, Ermelinda) Lilie of Okeana, Ohio, and a daughter; Jane (husband, Robert) Andrews of Dover.Six grandchildren; Anthony Luistro, Erika Lilie, Frederick Lilie, Robert Lilie, Katrina (husband, Benson) Andrews and Trevor Andrews, complete the family. In her long life, Carolyn said goodbye to many people she held dear to her heart, including her brother Joseph E. Fry, when he was three years old. Her mother passed away when Carolyn was yet a teenager, and following 47 years of marriage, her husband passed away in 1987. Carolyn’s family will receive friends Sunday, November 8, from 3PM until 4PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where the Rev. Dick Greenwood will lead Mrs. Lilies funeral service at 4. A reception will follow in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Cremation is planned, with inurnment at a later date in historic Spring Grove Cemetery at Cincinnati. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
