Carolyn Pritz Marks, 85, of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025.
Born on October 8, 1939, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Carolyn’s life was filled with love, laughter, and lasting connections that touched many hearts.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles Edward Marks, and her parents, Oscar and Lucille Pritz.
Carolyn is survived by her five children, who were the pride and joy of her life: Jan Marks (Amy) of Pittsburgh, PA; Jodie Ballard (Dave) of Edisto, SC; Jeff Marks of St. Petersburg, FL; Jim Marks-Berube (Scott) of Grand Island, NY; and Jayne Alston (Patrick) of Charlotte, NC.
She was a loving grandmother to Chris Ballard of Denver, CO, Allie Ballard of Richmond, VA, Jacob, Lucas, and Noah Marks of Pittsburgh, PA, Michelle Bragg (James) of Brooksville, FL, and Sarah and Jennifer Marks of St. Petersburg, FL. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jackson, Lacey, Kensie, and James.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carole Arthurs; her niece, Jamie Snyder; and nephews Scott Arthurs and Shawn Arthurs.
Carolyn cherished her roots and maintained close friendships from her hometown throughout her life. As a dedicated Navy wife, she spent 30 years supporting her husband Charles’s military service, raising a family with resilience, warmth, and grace. After many years of travel, they made their home in Mount Holly, NC.
In her later years, Carolyn found a new community and dear friends at Windsor Run Senior Community in Matthews. Known for her gentle spirit, sharp wit, and generous heart, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to quiet strength, unconditional love, and enduring friendship. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she so deeply loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in Carolyn’s memory.
Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
