Carol R. Sergent Regula, age 80, of New Philadelphia, passed into the nearer presence of her Lord and Savior early Tuesday, October 4, 2016, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born at New Philadelphia on April 5 1936, to Glenn O. Herron and Evelyn McClain Herron Stress, Carol attended New Philadelphia City Schools.
She married V. Wayne Sergent on February 13, 1953 and together the couple raised four children and shared in 28 years of marriage prior to his death on October 31, 1981.
A member of the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church at New Philadelphia, Carol loved bowling, golfing, playing cards, cooking, beach vacations, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved helping others and working alongside her family in their various businesses and volunteer programs. Most recently, she and her husband, Ron, have enjoyed raising Yorkshire Terriers.
On January 28, 1984, Carol married Ron Regula and together they share a blended family of Jeff (Sue) Sergent, Paula (Denny) Drumm, Mike (Christine) Sergent and Pam (Matt) Trimmer, Shawn (Barb Albritton) Regula and Misty (Dean) Green; grandchildren Keri (Brent) Lewis, David (Danya) Sergent, Leslie Korns, Nicole (Bill) Fowles, Jaclyn (David) Stull, Aaronn Sergent, Ryan Trimmer, Lauren Trimmer, Josh Squires, Sarah (Luke) Pulley and Trenton Cost; great-grandchildren Chase, Colin and Landon Lewis, Lydia and Evie Sergent, Carter and Colton Korns, Wynn Fowles and one newly announced as well as her grand-pup, Mia. Also surviving are a sister, Rosalie (John) Youngman and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Carol was preceded in death by three brothers; James, Charles “Chink” and Jerry Herron and a sister, Joanne Stephens.
The family will greet guests on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Darrell Johnson will lead a celebration of Carol’s life in Schoenbrunn Moravian Church on Saturday at 10AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal, all are welcome to the church’s social hall for a time of food and fellowship.
