Carmen Johnson, 92, of Dover, died Sunday April 9, 2006, at Hennis Care Ctr. in Dover.A daughter of the late Albie and Fannie E. Gogan Evans, Carmen was born September 3, 1913, in New Boston, Ohio.She was an active member of the Church of God, a past president of the Virginia State Missionary Society of the Church of God and a Sunday School Teacher. As the wife of a minister, Carmen moved often and in addition to New Boston, had resided in Dayton, Dennison, and Mansfield, Ohio; Rich Creek and Richmond, Virginia; Greensboro, North Carolina; Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Wooster, New Philadelphia and Dover, Ohio.She is survived by a step-son, Norman (Kim) Johnson, of Dover; step-daughter, Bernice Bell, of Richmond, Virginia; step, daughter-in-law, Patsy Johnson, of Indianapolis, Indianapolis; 12 step grandchildren, numerous step- great and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Shelden C. Johnson, whom she married on June 6, 1948, a step-son, James Johnson and a brother.Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 1:00 pm. at the Scioto Burial Park 4757 Mcdermott Pond Creek Rd. McDermott, Ohio with Pastor Matthew Roe officiating. A memorial service in celebration of Carmen’s life will be held Saturday April 22, 2006, at 11:00am in the First Church of God, in New Philadelphia. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia is handling the arrangements.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Highland Ave. Church of God, 669 W.
