Carmella “Carmie” DeNicola, 95, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.A daughter of the late Alfonso and Anna (Mauro) Fioretto, Carmie was born November 19, 1911 and has resided at New Philadelphia all of her life.She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where she was active in the Altar Society and the Senior Citizens of Sacred Heart. Carmie was also a member of LCBA and Keeping in Touch Seniors of Roswell.Carmie was employed at LaFountaine’s Variety Store at New Philadelphia for 42 years as well as Aberth’s Catering for over 16 years. She also worked for the Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where she enjoyed serving as a Family Center Hostess well into her 90’s.She enjoyed crocheting, and since 1990, Carmie has crocheted over 3, 300 pairs of slippers for the Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community’s Share-A-Christmas Program.Carmie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Sam Coletti of Canton; granddaughters, Nina McDonald of East Canton and Stefanie Coletti of Canton; great grandchildren, Tommy, Beth and Jenna McDonald of Louisville; nieces, Gerrie Young, Linda Walton and Carol Ackerman and nephews, Tom Kline, David Fioretto and Rick Fioretto.She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Floyd DeNicola, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his death on March 21, 1995. Also preceding Carmie in death were her brothers Angelo and Dominic, who was killed in World War II, sisters, Tina Kline and Betty Smith and a niece, Donna Penso.Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service being held at 4:30 p.m. Monsignor George J. Schlegel will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
