Carl Vesco, Jr., 71, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Aultman Hospital at Canton, Ohio, following a brief illness.A son of the late Carl Vesco, Sr. and Anna (Bonvechio) Vesco, Carl was born August 8, 1935 at Wainwright, Ohio.Carl retired from Superior Dairy after 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked at East Sparta Ceramics and currently he served as a crossing guard for New Philadelphia.He was a member of the American-Italian Club where he held the position of trustee for several years. Carl was also a member of the Tuscarawas Post of the V.F.W. and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers. But his greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren grow up and watching them in their sporting activities.Carl will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty (Cercone) Vesco, with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 6, 2007. also surviving are three children, Jerry Vesco of New Philadelphia and two daughters, Annette (Mike) Sweet of Bolivar and Renee (Brian) Hall of Hilliard, Ohio, grandchildren, Stephanie and Erin Vesco, Brandon and Rachel Sweet and Kaitlyn, Brady and Dylan Hall; brothers, Martin (Shirley) Vesco of New Philadelphia, Ralph (Roann) Vesco of Uhrichsville and Thomas (Pam) Vesco of Mineral City; one sister, Roseann (Thomas) Andreas of Hilton Head, South Carolina; mother-in-law, Antonetta Cercone of Dover; brother-in-law, Rick (Sheila) Cercone of Atwood Lake and nieces and nephews, Jeffery (Cindy) Vesco, Dan (Cheryl) Vesco, Kristy Vesco, Martin (Cathy) Vesco, Vikki (Matt) O’Hara, Jodi Vesco and friend Jamie Zucal, Jackie (Sam) Shook, Marci (Dave) Stull, Anisa (Scott) Lewis, Heather Andreas, Rick (Melanie) Cercone, Lisa (Tim) Arnold and Michelle (Lief) Erickson.He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Carl John Vesco, father-in-law, Palmerino Cercone, brother-in-law, Ron Cercone, maternal grandparents, Martin and Rose Bonvechio and paternal grandparents, John and Josephine Vesco.Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, January 19, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:30 p.m. Monsignor George Schlegel and Father William Arnold will concelebrate a funeral mass on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. In keeping with Carl’s wishes, cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will held in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia at a later date. Immediately following the funeral mass, a memorial reception will be held in St. Ambrose Hall.Memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622
