Carl Tylke, age 81, of Dover passed away suddenly at Aultman Hospital in Canton on Sunday, October 4, 2009.Born December 11, 1927 in Newport, Ohio, he was the son of the late Andy and Anna Tylke. After graduating from Dellroy High School in 1946, he began his professional career working at Fairfield Brick.From there, he was employed at Muskingum Watershed, Operating Engineers, and Clark Township, where he was a skilled equipment operator for the organizations.Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always making time to support his family whether it was at a sporting event or on a hunting trip. Carl was also an avid Cleveland sports enthusiast and enjoyed being on the water fishing.Together with his wife, he owned and operated Tylke’s Greenhouse early in his life. The love for gardening carried on throughout his lifetime.Carl celebrated 60 years of marriage to his wife, the former Norma Jean Newton, on January 15, 2009. Together, they raised a loving family including their daughter, Regina “Fay” Kandel of Bolivar, and their two sons, Nelson (Sandy) Tylke of Orient, O. and Roger (Karen) Tylke of Bolivar. He was also loved by his grandchildren, Traci (Brian) Singree, A.J. (Stay-c) Kandel, Tara (Jason) Lee, Stacey (Dan) Hayes, Shawna Tylke, Amber Tylke, Travis Tylke, Brandon (Melissa) Tylke, and Andy Tylke; and eleven great-grandchildren. Three siblings including, Edward “Doc” Tylke, Robert Tylke, and Regina “Jeannie” Yanice, complete his family.In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by three brothers; John, Andy, and James “Henry” Tylke.A public graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, 1926 Saltwell Rd. NW in Dover beginning at 1 p.m. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Avenue, Dover.
