Carl R. (mike) Bice

Carl Richard (Mike) Bice, 76, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and formerly of Smithfield, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 28, 1927 in Flushing, Ohio to the late Jacob and Myrtle Howard Bice.Mike retired from Ohio Operating Engineers in 1990. He was a former race car driver and an avid bass fisherman as well. Mike also was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Mae Gamble Bice, a son Michael, a sister, Mary Margaret and a brother, Howard.Surviving are his wife, Anna Margaret (Maggie) Lathem Bice; one son, Richard (Rhonda) Bice of Jewett; one stepson, James Roger Gatts of Delroy; two daughters, Melanie (Melvin) Byers of Hopedale and Suzanne (Dirk) Harkins of Ft. Bragg, NC; four grandchildren, Dustin, Michael, Shelby and Dirk; three brothers, Donald (Clara) of Arizona, Sam (Nancy) of Florida and Fred of California.Friends may call on Friday. August 20, 2004 from 6-8PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, 116 Second Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH. A funeral service honoring Mike’s life will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 8:00PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating.
