Carl Otto Menges, 88, of Dover, formerly of Crooked Run, New Philadelphia, died Thursday morning in New Dawn Health Care Center. Born September 22, 1914 in Dover, he was a son of the late Henry Menges and Mary Smith Menges. Carl was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church, having served the congregation in various leadership capacities during his active membership. Carl was also a member of the Union Grange and was a former member of the New Philadelphia Rotary Club. By profession, Mr. Menges was a securities broker for Landmark of Columbus, O. He is now in a better place with his wife of 51 years, the late Helen Aubihl Menges, who preceded him in death on December 24, 1991. In addition to his parents and wife, a brother and two sisters precede Mr. Menges in death. Mr. Menges will be missed by the friends he made while a resident of Walnut Hills Retirement Center prior to moving to Dover. Two sons, Ronald (Arline) Menges of Findlay, O, and Earl (Linda) Menges of Bolivar, survive, as does four grandchildren; Elizabeth (Brett) Schilling of Green, O, Krestopher (Michelle) Menges of Ocoee, FL, Mark (Lori) Menges of Powell, O, and Laura Kaiser of Cincinnati, O. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.Friends may call Friday, June 27 from 5 to 8pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Rev. Orion Aubihl will officiate funeral services Saturday, June 28 at 11:30am in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial, alongside his wife, will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. A meal for family and friends will be served at Broadway United Methodist Church following the committal service.
