Camillo L. Martinelli

October 29, 1918 — March 17, 2013

Camillo L. Martinelli, age 94, of Roswell, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 17, 2013, in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia.

Born in Michigan, October 29, 1918, he was one of eight children born to the late Raymond and Josephine Valentinelli Martinelli.

The family relocated to Roswell while Camillo was still a young boy. He attended Roswell school, and was a member of St. Elizabeth church until its closure when he became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Camillo was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. Upon his return to the Tuscarawas Valley he went to work at Joy Manufacturing before becoming a miner, working until his retirement at the Midvale Mine.

He’ll be remembered by his family for his love of hunting and vegetable gardening.

Survivors include his two sisters; Anna Fiora and Rita Contini, both of New Philadelphia. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, complete the family.

In addition to his parents, Camillo is preceded in death by his brother Ernest Martinelli, and sisters, Olivia Boggiani, Louise Murphy, Lee Martinelli, and brother Rudy Martinelli.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday morning at 10 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial, with his family, will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery at Roswell where VFW Post 14445 at New Philadelphia will render military honors.
