Caleb Jason Shreffler, age 24, formerly of Bowerston, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, following a sudden illness.Born on August 10, 1983, in Union Hospital at Dover, Caleb was the son of Terry and Ellen Shreffler of Bowerston, Ohio.Described by his family as a “Big Teddy Bear”, Caleb will me missed most of all for his warm personality and unassuming demeanor.He was a studious young man who was gifted when it came to working on computers and electronics. Caleb was always willing to lend a hand in making repairs for friends and family alike.Education was a highly important part of Caleb’s life. From the time he began elementary school Caleb was an honor roll student and was continually on the Principal’s List.As part of Conotton Valley’s graduating class of 2001, Caleb was honored to serve his class as salutatorian. During high school Caleb participated as a post-secondary student at Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus where he actually obtained his associate’s degree in Science prior to receiving his high school diploma. His educational awards soon took hold in college as well. Caleb was an Honor Student and was consistently on the Dean’s List.As a student of The University of Akron, Caleb graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering.More recently Caleb was working as a civilian employee in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at Fairborn, Ohio. Simultaneously, he began working toward a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.Education wasn’t Caleb’s only passion however; he enjoyed all types of sports that varied from Dallas Cowboy’s Football to the Orlando Magic basketball team and even NASCAR. Known to his family by a multitude of nicknames; be it Caybee or CJ, Caleb will be sadly missed by his parents, Terry and Ellen; his sister, Darcy (Scott) Booth of Bowerston; a brother, Lucas (Tara) Shreffler of Scio; two nieces, Micayla Shreffler and Lily Booth; and a nephew, Logan Shreffler.Caleb’s grandparents, Larry and Nancy Coffy; great-grandparents Bernice Coffy and Ernest and Pearl Bower also survive. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins complete the family.Caleb was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lloyd “Bud” and Janis Shreffler and great-grandparents, P. Wells Coffy and Thad and Janice Ball.The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 5, 2008 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 3:00 PM â?? 5:00 PM. Cremation will follow through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
