Burdell E. Weber, of Dover, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 22, 2005. It was his 68th birthday.A descendant of the Zoarites, Burdell was the youngest of six sons born in Zoar to the late William and Margaret (Ruegg) Weber. He attended the Zoar School.In 1956, he married the former Janice Roth, with whom he had shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they spent several years in California before returning to the Tuscarawas Valley in the l970’s.Burdell was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and all of God’s creation. These loves he shared with his sons and grandsons as they grew to maturity. A former member of the Zoar Volunteer Fire Department, he was currently a member of the Bolivar Sportsmen’s Club, the Dover V.F.W. Post #3463, and the Bolivar Army/Navy Garrison.Burdell is survived by his wife, Janice; his sons, Kent Weber of Bolivar and Marty (Mary) Weber of East Sparta; grandsons, Mathew Weber and Adam Weber; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn; brother, Calvin Weber; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Weber, Mrs. Junior (Alberta) Weber, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Weber, and Doris Weber; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four of his brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Junior, and Edward.Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, January 25, 2005, between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Leland Eilert on Tuesday, at 3:30 p.m. At 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, all friends and family members are invited to celebrate Burdell’s life and share memories with his family at a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.In accordance with his wishes, cremation will be conducted at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions to honor Burdell’s life be made to the organization or charity of the donor’s choice.
