Bruce Warren Border, age 92, of Wooster and formerly of New Philadelphia died Sunday, December 8, 2019, in Smithville Western Care Center at Wooster.
Born in New Philadelphia on August 18, 1927, Bruce was a son of the late Warren Jacob and Melva Jane (Burgess) Border.
Following his graduation from New Philadelphia High School in 1945, Bruce was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps toward the end of World War II. During his service he was stationed in Alaska where he worked as a Teletype Operator.
His career in the trucking industry began with Breyer Exchange and later with Reeves and Greer Steel as a truck driver. He later worked the Parts Counter at Ravens Trailer Sales in Dover for 25 years prior to his retirement. Bruce enjoyed motorcycles and World War II era planes.
He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Patrick whom he married on January 26, 1955; a daughter, Sara (Brian) Hawk of Wooster; a son, Ray Border of Wooster and a grandson, Ethan Hawk.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Border and a sister, Wilma McGraw.
The family will greet guests on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 6-7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Mr. Dave Myers will lead a memorial service at 7 PM. Private inurnment at a later date will be held in Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman.
