Brooks Patrick Cottrell, 76, of Mineral City, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Union Hospital in Dover.He was born August 27, 1928, in Clay Co. West Virginia, to James Garfield and Blanche Truman Cottrell. He was retired from the former Republic Steel and LTV Steel Co.Brooks was a was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and belonged to the Hayjacks Sportsman’s Club in Dennison. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Eagles Aerie 3228 in Sandyville.He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Linda (Jon) Newell, of Mineral City; son and his fiancé, Ricky Cottrell and Barbara Capalingo, of Canton; sisters, Amy Abbuhl, of New Philadelphia, Nina Chapman, of Orrville and Annie Pyles, of Canton; brother, Arnold Cottrell, of Soddy Daisey, TN; Sister-in-law, Jretta Frame, of Mineral City; niece, Shonett Cottrell- Freshwater, of Mineral City, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.Brooks was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bessie Pauline Cottrell; son, James; sisters Marie Jones and Bertie Pyles and a brother, Robert Cottrell.Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2005 from 1 to 3p.m. and 6 to 8p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center of Dover. Funeral Services will be Tuesday August 2, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. Dover with Rev. Lester Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Ridgecrest Memory Garden.
