Brian L. Schaar, age 37, husband and father of three, passed away just after sunrise on Saturday, June 27, 2009 with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with stomach cancer.A son of the late Terry L. and Patricia A. Schaar, Brian was born, February 8, 1972, and raised in Dover where he continued to reside with his family. He graduated in 1990 from Dover High School and Buckeye Career Center in the Natural Resource Program. He was employed by Carter Lumber right out of high school and had also worked for Pleasant Valley Ready-Mix and Twin City Concrete. In 2001, Brian joined the Kimble Mixer Company, where he led the service department until illness recently prevented him from going to work. Brian was a loving father; and his family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and watching his kids play sports. Taking his family canoeing and kayaking and hanging out with his friends, were highlights of his life. Brian also had also picked up on golfing during a recent business trip to California.He leaves behind his wife of nine years, the former Amy Yoder, whom he married September 16, 2000, three children, Devon, age 16, Joey, age 8, and Sarah, age 5 all of the home. Brian’s family also includes a sister; Chris Schaar, a brother, Tim Schaar both of New Philadelphia, and sisters; Tammy Schaar of New Philadelphia and Tina Schaar, of Dover. He’ll be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Tammy (husband Aaron) Watkins, of Dover, his mother-in-law, Barb (husband Scott) Whalen of Strasburg, and his father-in-law; Roman Yoder, also of Strasburg. An uncle, Dan (Kris) Crone; an aunt, Diane (David) Miskimen; and two grandmothers, Edith Thurman of Dover, and Thelma Ayers, of Strasburg, also survive. Brian’s family cannot begin to express how grateful they are to the numerous friends who have come to the aid of their dear friend during this difficult time. Your love and support through the years and the adventures we all shared with him will never be forgotten.Friends are invited to call Tuesday, June 30, 2009, from 2-4 PM and from 6-8PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Tim Hawkins will lead services celebrating Brian’s life on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 10:30 AM in the Dover Funeral Center. Burial, alongside his parents, will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center, across the street from the cemetery.
