Brenda K. McCahill

Brenda K. McCahill, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Friday, June 2, 2023, at her residence.

Born in Twin City Hospital at Dennison on July 18, 1947, Brenda was a daughter of the late Delbert Lynn and Jean A. Stefani Walker.

Brenda was a 1965 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on May 9, 1970, married Charles “Chip” McCahill who preceded her in death on September 12, 2002. She was a cosmetologist by trade but spent the majority of her working career in various food service positions. Prior to her retirement at age 65, Brenda spent the last ten years of her career working for the Tuscarawas County Jail as a cook.

She loved her family and did everything she could to never miss a 4-H or sporting event that involved her children. She will long be remembered for her love of cooking and baking and was especially proud of the fact she won Best of Show four years in a row with her cake creations. Brenda also had a wonderful sense of humor and joyfully tolerated her family’s joking and teasing, often joining them in the fun.

She will be missed by her children, Kevin (Angela) McCahill of Columbus; Tammie (Olin) Gordon of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Becki McCahill of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Levi, Aniston, and Kamden McCahill and Aidan Gordon as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother and father, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chip” McCahill; her son, Chad A. McCahill; her step-father, James W. Walker and her sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Ridgeway, Janie Urfer, Elizabeth Ann Craig; and her brothers-in-law, Dennis “Gooter” McCahill, Harold McCahill, and Ronnie McCahill.

A private graveside service will be held in the Dover Burial Park. Cremation care was handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
