Bonnie Ann Schumacher, age 90, of Tuscarawas, died peacefully, Friday, March 22, 2024, while in the care of The Truman House at New Philadelphia.
A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas, Bonnie Ann was born in the family home on June 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Elmer N. and Helen J. Eichel Lorenz.
She was a 1951 graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and on April 26, 1953, in Sharon Moravian Church, where she has been a lifelong member, she married Glen J. Schumacher. As a couple, they raised one son and have shared in nearly 71 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed many adventures and in their later years, wintered in Palmetto Florida.
Her works of service at Sharon Moravian Church were many but not limited to the Sunday School Secretary, Vacation Bible School Director, and a member of the Moravian Women’s Fellowship. Bonnie Ann loved caring for her home and her family. She was known for her famous sweet tea and bird watching. She loved spending time with her family but often stated that her time with her grandchildren was some of the most special memories of her lifetime.
Bonnie Ann’s other joys in life came in the form of gardening, tending to her flowers, and helping to mow the lawn.
In addition to her husband, Bonnie Ann is survived by her son, Brad (Elizabeth) Schumacher; two grandchildren, Devin (Katie) Schumacher, and Elyse (Jared) Figgins; her great-grandsons, Aiden and Graham Figgins; a sister-in-law, Doris Schumacher; a nephew, Jay Horn; nieces, Rita Bilikam, Tina Michel, and Brenda Sibley, as well as many cousins and dear friends.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A second visitation will take place in the Sharon Moravian Church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM where a service will be led by Pastor Lloyd Gooden starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery.
