Bonnie Lillis Beane Riggle, 69, of Port Washington, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Martin, Bonnie was born November 12, 1943 at Montreal, Canada.
Bonnie graduated from Shelburne High School in Vermont and later earned a Masters of Education degree from Franciscan University at Steubenville, Ohio. She then worked for 14 years as a teacher of E.D. classes at New Philadelphia High School. She took pride in her teaching and found great comfort when her former students would return for visits.
She was Catholic by faith. Bonnie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family often times making a variety of foods just to please everyone. She enjoyed her pets and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband, Dale A. Riggle whom she married on December 21, 1996 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Newcomerstown; her children, Richard (Kassie) Beane of Port Washington, Sherrie (companion, Debra Flowers) Beane of West Jefferson, Ohio, Melissa (Darrell) Mutschelknaus of Newcomerstown and Jeffrey (Rhonda) Beane of South Solon, Ohio; her grandchildren, Justin Beane of South Solon, Camille Beane of Cadiz, Rachael (Sylvain) Champroux of South Solon, Cameron Beane of Cadiz, Kellan Mutschelknaus of Newcomerstown, Morgan Beane of Cadiz, Jillian Flowers of West Jefferson and Jordan Mutschelknaus of Newcomerstown; her siblings, Joanne (Thomas) Bassette of Shelburne, Vermont, Gary (Grace) Martin of South Burlington, Vermont, Pamela Borja and Penelope Martin both of Milton, Vermont and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Zachary Michael Beane and her father-in-law, Walter Riggle.
In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes cremation will take place and the family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Bonnie’s life will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
