Bobby L. Burns, 84, of Mary Esther, Florida and formerly of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born October 13, 1930 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ralph “Zip” and Jessie M. (Harmon) Burns.
Bob was a 1948 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. He was employed by the Timken Company in New Philadelphia as a foreman in the grinding shop and retired after 43 years of service.
He enjoyed wood working and created many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. Cooking Sunday dinner was a longtime tradition for Bob, as was watching sports and cheering for the Buckeyes.
Surviving family members include two sons, Bobby Burns of Mary Esther, Florida and Wayne (Mary) Burns of New Philadelphia, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michael Burns of Florida and Chris Burns of Ohio; a sister, Sue Smith of Tuscarawas, Ohio; and a brother, Jack Burns of Akron, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Mark Burns; five sisters, Lois Heter, Betty Burns, June Bunch, Jneanne Burns, and Kay Grey; three brothers, Gene Berkshire, Donald Burns, Bill Burns; as well as an infant sister, Boots.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services. A private family service will be held in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
