Robert D. Demuth, 61, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, November 27, 2023, in his home, following a battle with cancer.
Born in Dover, Bob was the son of the late John Richard and Mildred Pauline (Sever) Demuth. He was a 1981 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. After high school he studied at A.T. I. in Wooster and The Ohio State University. Bob was a farmer and for many years ran the family dairy farm. He also had a passion for cutting wood and he supplied firewood to many families around Tuscarawas County.
Bob was very involved in the community. He served on the board of the Norma Johnson Center, Tuscarawas County Soil and Water Conservation board, and The Agland Board. For eight years he was the leader of Farm Bureau’s Youth Group, and since he turned 18 years old, he was an election night worker for the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections. He was also a founding member of Faith Christian Church in New Philadelphia.
On July 29, 2000, Bob married Susan Troyer together they shared over 23 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his two sons, Jacob, and Samuel Demuth of the home; his daughter, Amanda Demuth of Penn State University; brother, James (significant other Sue Ann Spittle) Demuth; sisters, Marcia Demuth, Nancy (Scott) McDaniels, Dana Demuth, and Carol Paulenske; sister-in-law, Mary Demuth-Rinella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his brother, John Demuth; and best friend, Hans Bichsel.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in Faith Christian Church, 2012 Pleasant Valley Rd NE New Philadelphia. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 1:30 PM in the church, the family will also receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Schoenbrunn Meadow Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Faith Christian Church, 2012 Pleasant Valley Rd. NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
