Blaine R. Gilmore, 86, of Uhrichsville, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Lowell and Frieda (Steinbach) Gilmore, Blaine was born July 31, 1926 at Port Washington, Ohio.
Blaine graduated from Port Washington High School in 1944. He enlisted with the United States Navy that same year and served during World War II until receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
On November 10, 1962, Blaine married the former Norma Jean Lineberger and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Vicki Lynn.
He was a longtime employee of Ohio Engineers Trade Union where he was a heavy equipment operator. Blaine was also a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville.
Blaine was active in his community and held the following memberships: Master Mason Blue Lodge #202, Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, Aladdin Temple Shrine, F. & A.M. Gnadenhutten, Life Member of Operating Engineers Local #18 of Akron, Life Member of American Legion Thomas Montgomery Post #431 of Newcomerstown, Life Member of Carl C. Stoller V.F.W. Post #1445 of New Philadelphia, Life Member of National Rifle Association and a member of the Eastern Star Arbutus Chapter #288.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Norma Jean Gilmore and daughter, Vicki Lynn Gilmore both of the home.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Pauline Marlatt, Goldie Watson and Alice Kinsey and two brothers, Howard and Dwain Gilmore.
In keeping with Blaine’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or services and a private graveside service will be held in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
