Billy E. Sickels, age 57, of Bolivar, died Saturday, September 16, 2017.
A son of the late Billy and June (Hare) Sickels, Bill was born in Union Hospital at Dover on September 30, 1959.
Following his graduation from New Philadelphia High School, Bill spent most of his adult life in Florida where he worked in construction and various other fields. He prided himself in helping others who had experienced similar difficulties in their lives. He gave to the homeless and was an AA sponsor.
He moved back to Ohio in 2007 to be closer to friends and family. While living in Ohio, he worked as a truck driver. He loved hunting and fishing. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time and working at the Dover flea market. He also enjoyed watching the Browns, the Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Upon returning to the area, he also reconnected with several childhood friends including Jamie Walters, Lisa Penso, and his first childhood friend, Kimberly Breehl. He also loved the companionship and special bond he had with Chloe, the cat.
Bill is survived by his sister, Carolyn (Jack) Wagner; brother, Dan Sickels; niece, Nita (Dennis) Poremski; nephews, Steve Wagner and Dan Sickels Jr; and great nieces, Kate and Maggie Poremski.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
The family requests memorial contributions in Bill’s name be directed to Friends of the Homeless, 211 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
