Billy Lee Treciak, 83, of Dover, died Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Park Village Health Care at Dover following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Frank Ernest and Dorothy (Richmond) Treciak, Billy was born May 1, 1936 at Kilsyth, West Virginia.
Billy graduated from Meadowbridge High School in 1954 where he was the quarterback of the football team. He also attended the University of Cincinnati and was a veteran of the United States Army.
His professional career started with Timken Roller Bearing Company where he worked as a mechanical engineer for 30 years. Billy then went to work for Diebold Inc. at Newark, Ohio where he was proud to have worked on the team that created the chip reader technology for credit cards as well as the technology behind the Red Box Movie Rental concept. He also worked for Medtronic and again was proud to have been a part of the process creating heart stints laced with medication.
Billy was a former member of the Johnstown Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of the communities he resided and was a member of many different organizations.
He was a very athletic person and enjoyed baseball and bowling in his younger years. He was a fan of Ohio State Athletics also. Most of all, Billy cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his children, Terri (Gary) Mayle of New Philadelphia and Bill (Amy) Treciak of Granville, Ohio; step-daughter, Robin Morse of Phoenix, Arizona; step-son, Sean Stumph of Lima, Ohio; his grandchildren, Nina (Joseph) Lawless, Gary Mayle, Brittany (Kit) Creager, Ashley (Danny) Spiker and Sylvia and Spencer Treciak; his great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Gianna, Nya and Noa Lawless and Arya Grace Creager; his sister, Joan Freeman whom he was quite fond of; his step-brother, Jess Hobbs; special friends, Bobbie and Ralph Furbee and his dog, Daisy.
In keeping with Billy’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
