Bill “Wild Bill” Eberle, 93, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida surrounded by his family. Born in Ohio to the late Leone and Clifford Eberle, he graduated from Dover High School in 1942 where he was editor of the school newspaper, Sports and PA announcer. He served in the Army from February 1943 to January of 1946, receiving 14 medals during his service time. Bill graduated from The Ohio State University in 1949 majoring in Radio Programming and Journalism thanks to the G. I. Bill. He was employed in radio and television in Zanesville and Columbus. He founded the Zanesville Charity Newsies and was a founding member of the Scioto Ridge Methodist Church.
He married his childhood sweetheart Colleen Williams in 1946. Bill and Colleen moved to Ocala, Florida in 1990 living in On Top of the World where they enjoyed many clubs and activities. Colleen passed away in 2004.
He is survived by his three children, Kay McAuliffe (Joseph), Mark Eberle (Gemma), Rex Eberle; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Dover Burial Park.
