Betty Louise Smith, 85, of Orville, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Shady Lawn Nursing Home at Dalton following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Dairus A. and Beatrice R. (Fogus) Loudermilk, Betty was born May 4, 1932 at Frankford, West Virginia.
Betty graduated from Garfield High School in 1950. She then married Donald W. Smith on November 25, 1950. The couple enjoyed fishing together and spent many summers at their fishing camp in Canada.
She was a member of St. Agnes Church at Orville and was the office manager for the former Canal Fulton Signal newspaper. Betty was also formerly a school board member for the Northwest School District.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don Smith; her children, Deborah (Mark) Miller, Sandra Smilek, Donna Bloomfield, Bernard Smith and Albert Smith; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cecilia Smith.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church at Orville with Father Mike Siefert celebrating. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
