Betty Marie Beamer, age 66, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.Born July 5, 1942 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Bessie E. (Brokaw) Rutledge. After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, Betty married her husband, Richard Lee Beamer. Together, they reared four wonderful children, Cathy, Amy, Donna and Rich.Betty was devoted to her career throughout her lifetime beginning at Bonvechios then working for numerous nursing homes as a nurse’s aid. For the past 12 years, Betty enjoyed her employment at the Tuscarawas County Justice Center where she took great pride in cooking “home-cooked” meals. When she was not working, Betty was caring for her family or reading.Betty was also a devoted and active member of the former St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Wainwright before transferring her membership to the Immaculate Conception.Betty’s family includes her husband Richard of 47 years; her four children, Cathy (Luke) Lawless of Dover, Amy (Scott) Stein of New Philadelphia, Donna (fiancé, John Whalen) Corbett of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rich (companion, Wendy McQuiston) Beamer of Gnadenhutten; her sister, Nellie E. (Frank) Hursey of Newcomerstown; her five sisters-in-law, Jean (John) Johnson of Dennison, Rosalie (Larry) Bolden of New Philadelphia, Carol (Larry) Valentine of Cuyahoga Falls, Mike and Joanne (Beamer) Baran of Sun City, Arizona, and Christine Beamer of Wainwright; her brother-in-law, Robert Beamer; her dear grandchildren, Jeremiah (Leslie) Stein, Brian Stein, Molly, Alex, and Megan Lawless, Aaron Corbett, and Jessica and Jamie Beamer; and her one great-grandchild, Grady Stein; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Forrest L. Clark, her brother-in-law, Ken Beamer and her sister-in-law, Linda Beamer.Friends and family are invited to call at the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Tuesday, September 16 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service commencing at 7:45 p.m. Father Martin Ralko will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday beginning at 10 am in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Dennison. A reception will be held in the Hospitality Suite at the Geib Funeral Center at Dover immediately following mass. Private inurnment will be held in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia at a later date. In gratitude of Betty’s life and all that was good, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to either Hospice of Tuscarawas County, Inc., 201 W. 3rd St, Dover, Ohio 44622, or Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, 777 3rd St. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
