Betty M. Lorenz

Betty M. (McMillin) Lorenz of Stone Creek, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Park Village Healthcare Center at Dover.

Born on May 16, 1920, Betty was born in Uhrichsville to the late James Orloff “Mac” and Ruth Estella (Downs) McMillin.

Betty graduated from Stone Creek High School and continued her formal education at Canton Actual Business College. She spent 38 years working for Stone Creek Brick Co. where she served as both a secretary and an assistant sales manager.

Her faith was nurtured throughout her lifetime at Grace Community Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir for more than 50 years, and was a member of the Friendship Circle.

Betty married Edwin C. Lorenz on November 29, 1941 who preceded her in passing on June 13, 1985. They were the parents of the late Nancy (James) Fisher.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Lou “Mick” Gordon of Dover; her sister-in-law, Arline McMillin of Dover; and 16 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, William McMillin; and sisters, Annabelle Davis Potosi, Dorothy Wisard, and Peggy Lorenz.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Paul Houdashelt on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Grace Community Church in Stone Creek.  Internment will be held at the Stone Creek Cemetery.
