Betty J. Sanders, age 67, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully late Friday morning, February 11, 2011, in Aultman Hospital following a period of declining health. Born at Dennison, August 31, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Agnes Belle Clark Ferguson. Betty graduated high school from Dennison, and married the late Fred William Sanders in 1962. Betty will be remembered as a loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother, who always took the time to tend to the needs of others. So skilled was she as a caregiver, that for most of her life, she worked two jobs outside of the home. She was affiliated with the former Charity Nursing Home of Dennison, and worked at the former South Broadway Nursing Home of New Philadelphia, and was most recently employed by Ember Complete Care of Uhrichsville. At home, Betty doted upon her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the television, and working crossword puzzles. Survivors include her son, Michael P. Sanders and his fiancée, Amy Knight of Newcomerstown; two daughters, Debbie Moore and her fiancée, Carl Irwin of Port Washington, and Amy Glazer of Collierville, Tennessee. She’ll be sadly missed by her twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Jim (Carol) Ferguson, of Newcomerstown, completes the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her infant son, Fred William Sanders, Jr., as well as her grandson Matthew Glazier, and her four siblings, Bob, Pauline, Roy and Donald. Friends are invited to call Wednesday afternoon, from 4-5PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, where the Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead a funeral service for Mrs. Sanders at 5PM in the funeral home’s chapel. LINN-HERT-GEIB(330) 343-5506www.geibcares.com
