Betty Jean Michelli, 80, of Dover, died Friday, January 4, 2008, in Union Hospital at Dover.Born March 10, 1927 in Union Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Clyde V. and Pauline E. (Plunket) Mathias. Betty was a Dover High School graduate.After completing her formal education, Betty began her professional career working for General Telephone, Dr. Ebert, and Timken prior to her retirement. Throughout her lifetime, Betty was always quick to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family in need. She was a generous spirit who cared deeply for her children and grandchildren. Betty also had a love for arts, crafts and antiques. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Melanie (Pat) Fontana of Mineral City and Cindi Hawk of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, John Fontana of New Philadelphia, Shane (companion, Megan Rentsch) Hawk of New Philadelphia, and Tiffany Hawk of Dover; one great-granddaughter, Chasity Marie Hawk of New Philadelphia; her dear cousin, Delene Stemple of New Philadelphia; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Joanne) Mathias; and her lifelong friend, Mary Alice Kline of Dover.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Mathias, an infant son, John Thomas Michelli, and her son-in-law, Russ Hawk.In keeping with Betty’s legacy of lending a helping hand to others, her body is being donated to The Ohio State University Medical Center. A memorial reception will be hosted by her family at a later date.Betty’s family requests memorial contributions be directed to Akron Children’s Hospital, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio, 44308-1062.
