Betty Jean Carpenter, age 84, of Tuscarawas, died peacefully, Monday morning, January 3, 2011, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover.A daughter of the late John W. and Grace Heeter Kyte, Betty was born at Tuscarawas on April 3, 1926.She was a 1944 graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and on November 30, 1946, she married the love of her life, Jack William Carpenter. Together, the couple would rear three children and celebrate 45 years of marriage prior to Jack’s passing in 1992.Together, they shared responsibilities in Jack’s photography business, Carpenter Photography for more than 25 years. Always willing to lend a hand, Betty was there to help Jack prepare wedding albums or ensure the pose was just right for the picture he was about to take. Upon retirement, Betty and Jack enjoyed the company of one another as they traveled, enjoyed camping trips, and spent time with family.Betty enjoyed detailed task work and had a great deal of patience which aided her in completing handy work crafts of counted-cross-stich, crocheting, and sewing. Moreover, Betty enjoyed reading, cooking and preserving fresh produce from the family garden.She will be greatly missed by her three children; a son, John (Linda) Carpenter of Tuscarawas and two daughters, Linda (Dave) Wardell of New Philadelphia and Melanie (Curt) Quillen also of Tuscarawas; and a sister, Ruth (Robert)Winsch also of New Philadelphia.Six grandchildren, Tom and William Wardell, Scott and Matthew Carpenter, and Kimberly and Adam Quillen, a step-grandson, Donald Wardell, and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Wardell and Emma Wardell complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Sandra Wardell.The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 5 â?? 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Dennis Rohn will lead a funeral service celebrating Betty’s life in the Sharon Moravian Church on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
