Betty J. McRobie, age 80 of Walnut Hills Nursing Home at Walnut Creek, was welcomed home into the arms of her Lord and Savior early Thursday morning September 10, 2009.Born on June 17, 1929, at Troy, Ohio Betty was a daughter to the late Charles Woolard and Leonie (Cochenour) Woolard-Schmidt.She attended Dover City Schools and in 1950 married Charles McRobie, Sr. Together the couple reared two sons. Betty would spend a great deal of time over the next decades tending to and caring for her growing family as a homemaker.Throughout her lifetime, Betty was faced with a number of illnesses. Through her strength, which she obtained from trusting in the Lord, she was able to overcome them. This trait was admired and used by her family as a model for their own lives and faith. She also enjoyed sharing her faith with members of Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member.Being that family played such a vital role in Betty’s life, she truly enjoyed the many vacations, camping trips and shopping outings that were shared throughout the years. She also enjoyed family gatherings where a good game of Euchre was usually played. Years later, Betty became a volunteer of the “grandmother program” at Port Washington Elementary. During the summer months, she continued to devote her time to the youth through her work with the area library branches. She also spent a number of years assisting the Amish Community as she provided taxi services to aid in their long distance travels.Betty leaves behind her two sons, Charles (Sherry) McRobie, Jr. of Sugarcreek and John (Carol) McRobie of Dover. Two granddaughters, Joy McRobie and Sarah McRobie; four grandsons, Ryan (Kristin) McRobie, Josiah (Kristina) McRobie, Nathanael McRobie, and Jonathan McRobie; two great-granddaughters, Abby Large and Izzy McRobie and four great-grandsons, Nicholas and Benjamin McRobie, and Colin and Gavin McRobie and was especially close to her numerous nieces and nephews, who complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Elizabeth Woolard and two brothers, Charles Woolard and Dale Woolard.The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2009, from 4:00 â?? 6:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Dwight Mason will lead a service celebrating Betty’s life on Sunday at 6:00 PM in the Dover Funeral Center.A committal service in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover will be held Monday, September 14, 2009, at 10:00 AM Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be directed to the Free Methodist World Missions, PO Box 535002, Indianapolis, IN 46253-5002.Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
