Betty G. Smith

Betty G. Smith, 85, a longtime resident of Dover, formerly of Median County, died peacefully in Hennis Care Centre of Dover after a short illness.Born in Lodi, Ohio, on June 16, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Grace Keener Smith. She graduated from Lodi High School.Betty was a bookkeeper by profession, having worked for the former Ohio Farmers Insurance Company, now known as Westfield Group, the Selective Service Draft Board during World War II, the Lodi State Bank, and Mong’s Dairy in Lodi.She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women and the Boots and Saddle Club of Lodi. Locally, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dover. Her family includes a sister, Marjean Johnson of Dover, with whom she made her home; a brother, Hoyt R. (Maxine) Smith of Ashland; nieces, Beverly (Vincent) Link of Navarre Beach, FL, Sandy (Dan) Cooley of Dover, and Karen (Todd) Irwin of Houston, TX; a nephew Kevin (Peggy) Smith of Ashland; and many great nieces and nephews. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all.There are no calling hours or public services. Local cremation will be conducted through the care of Linn-Hert-Geib. A private family burial will follow at the family plot in Lodi. Memorials may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
