Betty Jane Clark, age 96, of Carrollton and formerly of Steubenville, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice at Carroll Health Care in Carrolton.
Born on December 31, 1927, in Steubenville, Ohio, Betty was a daughter of the late Benjamin Howard and Marie (Hazencomb) Nelson.
She was a graduate of Steubenville High School and on April 11, 1946, Betty married Robert E. Clark. Together the couple had four children and celebrated nearly 67 years of marriage prior to Robert’s passing on March 22, 2013. As a couple, they raised their family in the Steubenville area where their faith was nurtured at the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene. Upon their retirement, the couple relocated to the New Philadelphia area.
Betty was a loving, giving, person, with a deep faith in the Lord. She was always willing to help anyone in any way and share whatever resources she had with others. She enjoyed working alongside her husband in their store, Clark’s Concrete and Gift Shop. Betty enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, participating in the activities and events at the nursing home and loved visits from her grand-dogs. She enjoyed visits with family and her grandchildren and cooking for family gatherings.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Sharon) Clark of Cambridge, Pamela (Larry) Fogle of Steubenville and Darlene (John) Bombardier of Carrollton; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Robert Eugene Clark and her siblings, Daisy, Helen, Glenn and Howard.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
